Employment

The Rio Rico Fire District is your community fire department – professionals dedicated to making Rio Rico a safer place to live.  The District has paid, reserves and volunteers firefighters at its two stations 24 hours a day.

The Rio Rico Fire District (RRFD) is legally formed, taxing governmental agency with its own elected officials.  Funds for operating come from tax monies generated by taxes levied by the District on property within District and from inter-facility transports.

The District covers an area of roughly 42 square miles bounded on the west by the Coronado National Forest and on the east by ranch land.  On the south, at Kilometer 11 lies the Nogales Suburban Fire District and on the north lies Tubac Fire District.

The RRFD is responsible for providing fire and emergency medical services within these boundaries.  The District also provides inter-facility transports from Nogales to Tucson.  To augment the capabilities of other agencies in the County, we participate in a County and Federal wide mutual aid agreement.  This agreement allows us to summon help when needed and respond to calls for assistance to other agencies.
